The First Grill Night of 2024

It was so hot last summer that, unfortunately, I did not do much grilling. I knew it was time to start the grill when a neighbor was grilling – actually barbecuing because of the aroma of the sauce – all of yesterday afternoon and into the evening. Oh the smell of barbecue on the grill is heavenly to this Southern girl! A beautiful spring evening could not be wasted, so the season of grilling at Casa de Beth officially opened today!

On the grill tonight: brisket burgers and corn on the cob to be served with steamed asparagus, sauteed mushrooms, and grapes with plain whole milk yogurt. In my excitement about eating I forgot to make a picture of my plate, so I offer this picture of marinated vegetables from a past grill meal.

P.S. Do you know the difference between grilling and barbecue? Barbecue is meat with sauce, no sauce is grilled meat.

  1. I could picture that brisket burger and sides in my head as I love all of those, but the grilled veggies were colorful and no doubt delicious. Randy grilled steaks the Saturday before his surgery as I knew it would be a while before he could again. We’ll wait until you fire up the next time for a picture!
