Thursday Then and Now: The Milam Building

IMG_1308[1]

When the Milam Building opened in downtown San Antonio in 1928 it was the first high-rise office building with air-conditioning.  What a remarkable innovation!

I have fond memories of the little coffee shop on the first floor.  Not only did they have fabulous biscuits, it was where the who’s who of the SA business world met before the work day started. Those days are gone as the building was acquired by Weston Urban in 2016 and is undergoing renovations.

  1. Time just rolls along and all the good things in life disappear. Sometimes I wish we could just freeze the past and preserve it forever. What a gorgeous building and air-conditioning. Wow
