The Story of Luther Hall

Thanks to the dog shows at the Expo Center in Belton, Texas, I’ve been able to explore Belton from time to time.  This fall has given me two Sunday afternoons to enjoy a picnic lunch on the quiet campus of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor followed by pleasant walks and discoveries on the campus.  I have come to love not only this campus, but the town of Belton!

The first building constructed on the campus was what eventually was named Luther Hall in honor of President John Hill Luther.  Sadly, this building was destroyed by fire in 1929 and never rebuilt. I’ve featured the story of Luther Hall as well as a little of the history of the Baylor Female College in a post on Doorway Into the Past, Luther Hall.  I hope you will enjoy reading this story as much as I’ve enjoyed researching it (and, I think as time goes on I will uncover more stories about Luther Hall).
